![]() If you are raging about posts to Reddit or other social media, you must block out the names of the posters. You can rant all you want as long as don't give the name of your opponent. It is against the Reddit rules to start a witch hunt. Anything other than that must have to do with Super Smash Bros and its community. This subreddit is dedicated to venting about the game and maybe even getting help by different people. This of course is just a rough overview, you can find more information on COMMUNITY NO LONGER SUPPORTS OLD REDDIT! ALL CURRENT RULES/INFORMATION WILL ONLY BE ON THE REDESIGNED (CURRENT) REDDIT.Ī subreddit where you can rage about anything related to Super Smash Bros. So now there is a weird hybrid of both systems inplace which i would imagine would make switching to Melee while still being used to Sm4sh's mechanics quite awkward. This mechanic however was changed in patch 1.0.4, in which vertical DI now works exactly like in Melee and Brawl (so for example you would use the same survival DI for Fox's Upsmash in both games), but horizontal vectoring is still present (to survive a semi-spike launching you to the right in Melee you would hold your stick up where as in Sm4sh you would hold your stick up left). So with vectoring classic DI was theoratically possible, but often times ineffective, as you could just hold away or towards your opponent to receive a much stronger result. Essentially you could input any direction during hitstun and the game would simply merge your movement vector and the one calculated from your stick input, as opposed to classic DI, where tilting the stick parallel to the direction you are moving in does nothing. What did exist however is a mechanic now called vectoring. When Sm4sh came out, classic DI like it worked in Melee and Brawl where you have to input a perpendicular direction to the one you're flying in didn't exist. ![]() In fact mastering this is probably the biggest step in understanding the depth of the freedom in melee everybody talks about. If you think in that mindset I promise it will come and one day you'll never understand why dash dancing and dropping through platforms ever gave you trouble. ![]() With time melee will feel very fluid, it's just like fluidity on an instrument really, it comes not from playing the notes fast or even really clarifying your tone, rather it comes from the ability to time the notes together perfectly in sync, having the patience to chain noted together in relation to each other with a clear rhythm in mind. The game follows the rules strictly, if you're character is in the middle of an action any inputs are nullified, you have to learn to wait until the animation is over to deliver your next move, how close you are to that first frame the game can take your input is a skill and something that will seperate you from other players if you master the timings of your character to the micro level. The mindset that I took for melee was that the training wheels came off for the most part what you pressed is what you get. Honestly I think I got used to tech skill on Project M before I tried Melees which if I remember correctly has a little more leniency on buffering inputs and such. Going from having buffering to not having them is tricky. ![]() Galint Gaming - Organizers of Battle of BC 5Ĭody - Top modern Brawl player, champion of Apex 2022Īaron - Top Ultimate Diddy Kong for Moist EsportsĪpolloKage - Current best Snake main in UltimateĬosmos - Top Aegis main, champion of Shine 2022įor a full list, click here!
